Heather Locklear's parents say their daughter is on the up-and-up.
"Her parents wanted her fans to know this was not a suicide attempt and that she's doing really well and very good," a spokeswoman for Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, Calif., told reporters.
The former Melrose Place star was hospitalized yesterday after her sister made a purportedly frantic call to 911 expressing fear for Locklear's life. After assessing the situation at Locklear's home, paramedics determined that the actress should be taken to nearby Los Robles.
News of Locklear's hospitalization prompted speculation that she might require a trip to rehab for alcohol and substance abuse, with sources close to her telling Entertainment Tonight that she had been having a hard time dealing with her split from fiancé Jack Wagner.
But though her current condition isn't dire, obviously something serious went down.
"Nothing is new and that's good," the Los Robles spokeswoman said this afternoon. "She is in our ICU now and she spent a good part of the day sleeping. That's good, and when she wasn't [sleeping] she was very chatty, very verbal. She has been upgraded to good condition and medically stable. That fact that there's nothing new is very good."
As to her condition when she was admitted, the rep acknowledged that Locklear was "very agitated" when she first arrived at the hospital.
"She was not speaking in coherent terms and so we needed to address that," the spokeswoman said.
