Simon Cowell is slowly putting The X Factor's A-team together.
While he has already said that he'll be putting his judging prowess to good use on Fox's latest addition to the talent competition pool, three spots on the panel have remained up for grabs.
But now there appear to be only two remaining...
Is Antonio "L.A." Reid leaving his corner office to share a table with three other people?
Trade reports claim that the Island Def Jam Music Group CEO is planning to join The X Factor as a judge rather than re-up when his contract expires later this year. Auditions start March 27 in Los Angeles, and the show is set to premiere in September.
"It's a done deal," one source told the Hollywood Reporter, while Reid himself said that he wasn't against the idea of such a gig.
"Whatever works, works," the Grammy-winning producer said.
Of course, it will work even better if some of the people being mentioned as possible candidates for the show—among them Mariah Carey, George Michael, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul—actually work out.
The winner of The X-Factor gets a $5 million recording contract with Sony Music, where Reid will also reportedly land after leaving Island Def Jam. Fox has no comment on the deal at this time.
