Do a little backflip with us, will ya? Tonight marks the the first premiere of the 2010-11 TV season...the CW's Hellcats! It's got Superman (Tom Welling) as a producer, lots of skin and enough high-flying Russian splits to make Sue Sylvester ooze ith envy. But what about the money Q: Is it worth your precious time? Here's the scoop:

Hellcats (CW)

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 8, 9-10 p.m.
Competition: Law & Order: SVU (NBC), Modern Family (ABC), Cougar Town (ABC), Criminal Minds (CBS), Friday Night Lights (NBC)
Cast: Ashley Tisdale, Aly Michalka, Heather Hemmens, Matt Barr, Robbie Jones, Sharon Leal, Gail O'Grady
Status: We've seen the pilot.

Gimme a C-U-T-E!

Hellcats is pure fluffy goodness—with a bit of sexy sass thrown in, thanks to the "wrong side of the tracks" leading lady (Aly Michalka)—and we don't care what anyone says,  Hellcats is a fun little treat in the endless sea of heavy-handed legal dramas this season.

Executive producer Tom Welling is taking a stab at the world of competitive college cheerleading in the new CW series, as we explore Marti Perkins' (Michalka) journey from bad-girl brainiac to down-on-her-luck student to scholarship-driven pom-pom wielder, and the array of athletes she encounters along the way. And Ashley Tisdale steals the show as Hellcats' goodie-goodie cheer captain Savannah, who's the total opposite of her High School Musical biotch Sharpay (right down to her newly dark locks).

Ashley tells us to expect some twists. "You think something is goign to go a certain way and then you're like, 'What?! Oh my God!' There's so many crazy surprises."

Hellcats is textbook CW, with its One Tree Hill dramatics and Gilmore Girls charm, but has an edgy draw and really feels more like the ABC Family reboots currently dominating the charts, a la this summer's smash Pretty Little Liars and Make It or Break It.

The Wednesday night competition is stiff for this guilty pleasure, but if sitcoms and procedurals aren't your thing, Hellcats could be a perfect fit.

Verdict: Gimme a W-A-T-C-H!
