He's used to unleashing hell. But this time, Russell Crowe's unleashing concrete. The Oscar-winning New Zealand-born actor was feted with today with the 2,404th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, honoring a two-decade career that includes an Oscar win.

The sidewalk salute comes a month before his next film, the Cannes-opening Robin Hood.

On hand to celebrate the star were Crowe's wife and kids, as well as Ron Howard (who directed Crowe in A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man) and Jay Leno.

"I'd like to thank the Academy, I'd like to thank Jay Leno," said Crowe, 46. "I'm going to be on Jay's show tonight, too, so it's probably good that he turned up today."

For Jay's sake, we hope the sometimes-combative Crowe was joking.
