The road trip. That classic plotline ploy where anything that's anything bubbles to the surface, where deep, dark secrets are revealed and, well, where everything either turns out for the better—or some irreparable damage is done.

Tonight's Life Unexpected follows that formula, stars Britt Robertson (Lux) and Kris Polaha (Baze) tell us, and delivers a "punch...in the heart." And that might not be such a bad thing, depending on which team you're on...

Team Baze fangirls rejoice, because Kris tells us that in "Father Unfigured" we'll get a whole lotta reunited family fun. "It's a nice episode—it's the first time you get to see Baze, Cate and Lux as a little family."

Ryan (Kerr Smith) and Cate (Shiri Appleby) have decided to get married, but Britt points out there's still room for another family dynamic in the mix: "Cate wants to go see her father so she can invite him to the wedding, and ends up inviting Baze for Lux's sake. So we can have our united other parallel family," she explains. "The three of us take a road trip to go meet her father, so there are a lot of emotional situations...[But] ultimately, we all three become a lot closer as a family." Awww.

Fret not, Team Ryan. This doesn't mean the wedding is off—the family is just coming together in a new way. Of the road trip, Kris says: "There are a lot of shenanigans, as usual. But you see the turnabout where the show punches you in the heart—the realization that these three people can actually help heal each other and support each other and be there for each other."

(We're all for family togetherness, but remember what happened the last time Cate and Baze were friendly in a car? Ahem, Lux, ahem.)

But Ryan hasn't put a ring on it yet: In tonight's episode, "Baze becomes aware of his feelings more than he'd ever been," Britt tells us. "It's a realization for all of us. Everyone wants their parents to be together, whether for the right reasons or the wrong, or whether it's meant to be or not. For Lux, it's a battle of wits and what's in her little fantasy."

Meanwhile, back over at our Save One Show campaign, LUX is still alive and kicking...And it might have something to do with the vocal stylings of Kris and his onscreen partner in crime, Austin Basis (Math). Guys, take it away.

Are you Team Ryan or Team Baze? Do you want the wedding to happen, or are you secretly wishing for an objection? Post in the comments below, then tune into the CW for Life Unexpected tonight at 8.
