People might still be talking about "my Blake incarcerated" and Herbie Hancock's surprise Album of the Year victory, but the Recording Academy has started looking ahead to next year.

The Academy has penciled in Feb. 8, 2009, as the date of the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. CBS will once again air the ceremony live from Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

"The next 50 are here, and we are delighted to be in our hometown," Recording Academy President Neil Portnow said in a statement. "We will continue to offer a weeklong series of Grammy events that showcase various genres of music, educational programs and charitable activities."

Scheduled to open later this year in the L.A. Live entertainment complex that also includes Staples is the 30,000 square-foot Grammy Museum celebrating the history of the music industry's highest honor.

Nominations will be announced Dec. 4, with consideration going to albums released between Oct. 1, 2007, and Sept. 30, 2008.
