Netflix, you heartbreaker. You know we love you and will never leave you, and you use that to your advantage! You just remove nearly 80 movies from your service and expect us to just sit there and take it?!
Yeah, OK. We'll take it. Because that's how this toxic, but necessary relationship works.
Sure, Netflix purges and swaps out their selections all the time, but we tend to stand up and take notice (read: stay seated in our comfy office chair and tweet about it) when they remove more than 20 or so titles at a given time.
You can get the full list of what's disappearing from Netflix starting July 1 (that's tomorrow!) over on reddit, but these are the goners that are really breaking out hearts:
1. From Russia With Love
We're losing a lot of Bond films, actually, like For Your Eyes Only, A View To A Kill and Live And Let Die.
2. Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Classic Spielberg, you shall be missed.
3. Dr. Strangelove
Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Is there a more iconic image than Major "King" Kong riding the bomb like a cowboy on a bucking bronco?
4. Girl, Interrupted
Angelina Jolie at her (award-winning) best.
5. Event Horizon
The other sci-fi film starring Sam Neill that we are still hopelessly devoted to.
6. Taxi Driver
Besides the fact that this movie is just damn good, we've all done the "you talkin' to me?" bit once in our life.
7. Rocky series
We must break Netflix for taking the entire Rocky series from us.
If we didn't own this movie on DVD already, our tears would be flowing faster than ludicrous speed over this removal.
9. The Night Of The Living Dead
George Romero loved zombies before they were cool, you guys. And this film still has one of the most shocking endings in movie history, in our humble opinion.
10. The Terminator
We're partial to Judgment Day, but that doesn't make Ah-nold's sudden absence sting any less.
11. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
"...and always shall be your friend." Oh, the pain! Still gets us every single freakin' time.
12. Lars and the Real Girl
Who decided to give us less Ryan Gosling?
And now the five movies we pretend we're not upset about losing because we want to seem more highbrow but in reality we're totally pissed:
1. Howard Stern's Private Parts
We just really wanted an excuse to show that GIF.
2. Last Holiday
It's Queen Latifah learning to snowboard! What's not to love?!
3. Beavis And Butt-head Do America
True American icons.
4. Stuart Saves His Family
And doggone it, people like you.
5. Look Who's Talking trilogy
If these removals really frost your cookies (bonus points to whoever gets that movie reference), don't worry. Netflix is adding over 40 titles to streaming, but we'll talk about that another time.
