We are not worthy of Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson's Hairspray Live duet, but thankfully, the two powerhouse singers blessed us with their insane talent anyway as they closed out NBC's most successful live musical yet.
J-Hud in particular absolutely slayed every song—to be honest, we were still wiping away our tears from her rendition of "I Know Where I've Been" when she entered "You Can't Stop the Beat" in a fabulous gold jumpsuit—including the closing duet with Grande, "Come so Far (Got so Far to Go)."
The number also served as the curtain call for the cast a la the end of Grease Live—which made it especially exciting to watch.
Hudson teased the song as "two powerhouse vocalists just singing together" when she chatted with E! News about Hairspray Live, saying, "It's exciting, it's fun. I'm a fan of [Ariana], so it's like, we get to sing together—when I found that out I was like, ‘Oh yes, let's get into it.' It's another cool thing I get to add to my list, that's for sure," she told us.
Grande praised the message of the song. "The message in the song is exactly what we need right now," Grande told us. "Because the hook says, 'We've come so far, but we've got so far to go,' which is exactly where we're at right now. It's exactly why we're supposed to be doing this show right now, cosmically. The world needs to hear it in a fun musical way, it's a message that we need to get out there."
