It's been over 20 years since the world said goodbye to Kurt Cobain, but the Nirvana frontman still lives on in the hearts of many, particularly ex-wife Courtney Love.
In honor of daughter Frances Bean Cobain's 23rd birthday, the 51-year-old rocker posted two family photos of the late musician on Instagram, alongside tear-jerking captions.
"My greatest love and our precious Bean #missyou #memories," she wrote of the throwback pic in which she and Kurt are lying in bed with their baby girl.
"Makes me feel so sad. Our baby is all grown up now. Jesus Kurt look at her face, what on earth were you thinking..?!?!" she wrote of another similar shot, adding, "God I miss you, we all miss you."
Although Frances Bean and her mother have had a tumultuous relationship in the past, the Hole frontwoman and her daughter exchanged kind words on social media last week.
"Happy birthday my sweetest baby girl, I'm so proud of you @alka_seltzer666," Love wrote to which her daughter replied, "Thanks for letting me utilize your human form to act as my alien incubation pod for 9 months. Love you mum XX."
Kurt Cobain took his own life when Frances Bean was just 20 months old. The Nirvana frontman's only child recently served as the executive producer for the HBO documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, which chronicles the ups and downs of Cobain's life, including his struggles with addiction.
"It touches on some dark subjects but at the end of the day, I think that the film provides fans of Nirvana and not fans of Nirvana a basic understanding of who Kurt was as a human being and I think that's been lost within the romanticism and the myth of him and his story," Frances Bean said at the film's premiere. "What this movie will provide, hopefully, is a real understanding of who he was and I like he'd be really proud to have this movie made about him, so I'd like to thank Brett [Morgan, director] a lot."
