Thursday night TV is about to get real weird.
Next spring, one of Fox's longest-running dramas is reportedly joining forces with one of its newer dramas to create the strangest TV crossover event ever, which we are officially deeming Hollow Bones.
Yep. E! News has confirmed that Bones and Sleepy Hollow will be crossing over in one big event later this season, which is both the worst and best idea we've ever heard.
Despite the fact that one show takes place in a world where time travel, magic, and supernatural creatures exist and the other definitely does not, showrunners have apparently found some way to meld the two shows together for what we're hoping is one night only of pure insanity. There is no date set for the crossover at this time. Details of the crossover, including which characters would appear in each episode or interact with each other, are not being disclosed at this time.
Say it with us now: What. The. Fudge?!
TVLine was first to report the news of the crossover and Fox declined to comment, and our minds immediately started spinning. How? Why? Will it be a hallucination (a la the nightclub episode, or the Family Guy crossover) or have both of these shows secretly taken place in the same universe this whole time?!
We have so many questions, which we immediately tried to answer ourselves. So, without further ado, we present to you our ideas for how to merge Bones and Sleepy Hollow:
— Bones accidentally gets sent back to colonial times after she touches a really old bone, and starts leaving messages for Booth in the future. Abbie and Ichabod also start discovering these strange messages, and set out to figure out where the messages are coming from and how to save whoever is leaving them.
— Booth and Bones find the body of a creature that doesn't seem to be human, while at the same time Abbie and Ichabod have tracked their monster of the week to Washington D.C. Hijinks ensue.
— Abbie takes Ichabod on a trip to Washington D.C. to see the White House and the Smithsonian. There, they run into Bones, who is hard at work on a case involving a well-preserved body from colonial times.
— Booth is so stressed out over his gambling problem that he passes out and dreams that he's a Revolutionary War soldier who suddenly finds himself in modern times, where he runs into police officer Bones and together they try to stop the apocalypse, with no help from their daughter Christine, who's now the Horseman of War.
— Ichabod gets a summer fellowship at the Smithsonian and makes friends with Bones' team. The guys all hate him while the ladies can't stay away from him. Abbie, Booth, and Hodgins all bond over their annoyance.
— Ichabod and Abbie find out that one of the artifacts they need is being held in the Smithsonian, and they get caught trying to break in to steal it by Booth and Bones, who then get drafted into the fight to stop the apocalypse.
— What appears to be a Revolutionary War reenactment on the Washington Mall turns into an actual battle when some real soldiers accidentally time travel into the fray. Suddenly, Bones is faced with a guy who should have died two hundred years ago, and Booth manages to track down Ichabod and Abbie to consult on the strange case.
— Remember when Booth and Bones moved away at the end of the season finale? Turns out, they moved to the town of Sleepy Hollow and it takes a full half season for them to catch onto anything fishy going on, or to run into Abbie and Ichabod.
So Sleepy Hollow and Bones writers, feel free to use any of our suggestions. They're pretty plausible for such an outrageous idea, if we do say so ourselves!
