The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards white carpet was the place to see and be seen.
As music's biggest stars lined Madison Square Garden to flaunt their fierce fashions for photographers and wait in anticipation of the night's standout performances, including Britney Spears' return to the VMA stage and Rihanna's Video Vanguard tribute, E!'s cameras were there to capture all of the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple's special night.
First stop: Nick Jonas. The "Bacon" singer was slated to perform Sunday night as his older brother, Joe Jonas, and his band DNCE were up for the Best New Artist award, which they later won. More than a decade since the siblings burst onto the scene as teen heartthrobs in the Jonas Brothers, the 23-year-old feels "fortunate" that they could prosper in their separate ways.
"I think it's really rare that two people from the same band are able to break off, do their own things and have success in their own right, so I feel really fortunate," he told E!'s Sibley Scoles.
While Nick may be a solo artist now, Scoles couldn't resist asking if there was anyone special in Jonas' life behind the cameras. The answer was simple: "I'm very single, hanging out, enjoying life."
On the other hand, while Sean "Diddy" Combs walked the carpet separately from his longtime leading lady, Cassie, he did stop by E!'s camera to quickly sing her praises and dish on her recent 30th birthday bash.
"The birthday party was incredible," he told Scoles. "She's such a special person. Her friends and family came around. It was great."
While they briefly broke up following a heated argument in a car, the on-and-off couple reunited just in time for the star-studded event. "Diddy won't ever let Cassie get away. He loves her so much," an insider told E! News.
As the songstress told Sibley herself, "Love is real. Love is always real."
