Bro, we all love Nutella. We wish we could date Nutella. Hell, fill up a bathtub and we'll go swimming in Nutella. And when it's free? Woo! There are very few things that we won't do to get our hands on free Nutella.

Of course, one of those few things is punching an old guy in the face! Boundaries, dude. Boundaries.

You can file this one under "Story Set in America That We Are Not Surprised We Are Writing" because while the headline is shocking once you first read it, after it sinks in you'll kind of say to yourself: "well, of course that's what happened at Costco."

So this fight in Costco started like most of them do: around the free samples table. According to police in Burbank, Calif., the altercation started when 24-year-old Derrick Gharabighi was taking a bunch of free Nutella waffle samples, and an older gentleman asked him to not take too many so he could get one.

"The victim told Mr. Gharabighi that he wanted a sample and he shouldn't take so many," Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco told the Los Angeles Times.

Normal humans would respond by saying: "I'm sorry, you're right. I did grab too many. Here, take one of mine."

This guy responded by allegedly punching a 78-year-old man in the face. It was a bold strategy, we'll give him that. Of course, that strategy led to his arrest after police responded to the Costco and saw the elderly man with a "significant laceration above his left eye and swelling around the same area of his face.''

The victim was treated at a hospital and then released. Gharabighi was arrested and taken to jail, where he was charged with a single count of elder abuse and inflicting great bodily harm on someone older than 70.

According to the District Attorney's Office, he could face up to 11 years in prison if convicted.

So…were those Nutella samples really worth it, sir? You could have had as much Nutella as you wanted if you just, you know, bought the very product that Costco was offering free samples of!

Remember, kids: Nutella is worth a lot of pain and suffering, but it's never worth punching an old person in the face.
