Blade Runner may be getting a few replicants of its own.

Alcon Entertainment, the folks who brought us The Blind Side, are in final negotiations to acquire the rights to the 1982 Harrison Ford-starring cult classic, thereby paving the way for possible prequels, sequels and a whole lot more. The deal, however, would now allow for a remake of the original.

"We recognize the responsibility we have to do justice to the memory of the original with any prequel or sequel we produce," Alcon cofounders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said in a statement. "We have long-term goals for the franchise, and are exploring multiplatform concepts, not just limiting ourselves to one medium only."

Hmm. First, Tron. Now maybe Blade Runner. Perhaps there's still hope for a resurrection of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, after all. C'mon, who doesn't love Twiki?
