It's been a good year for Britney. She has hair, for one thing, as well as a cushy job on The X Factor, where she gets plenty of publicity for sparring with Demi Lovato. But more importantly, she has a new puppy, Hannah. The little dog's Twitter account has almost 9,000 followers, probably due to compelling tweets like, "What should I chase today…squirrel or chipmunk? Arf arf!" Clearly she doesn't need to chase fame.
James Franco is an actor, a writer, a Ph. D. candidate and also a cat man. Franco likes to name his cats after characters in books, with Sammy named after Sammy in What Makes Sammy Runand Zelda named after F. Scott' Fitzgerald's wife Zelda. According to Franco, "Sometimes I get a little sad...Then I talk to my cat about it and he reminds me I'm James Franco." Reason to rejoice indeed.

What could make Ryan Gosling more adorable? How about a loyal dog sporting a mohawk? As Gosling told Jimmy Fallon, he coifs the dog so because "he insists on it" and "every time it started to grow out, he turned into a total jerk." Despite what Gosling says about his "muppet," we're sure that George is just the opposite of a jerk.
Alana Thompson (aka Honey Boo Boo) is notoriously a sucker for animals. While it didn't work out with her beloved little piggy, Glitzy, she can now take care of her own pet chicken, Nugget. Her bird has made such a splash that PETA even wrote her a letter asking her to change its named to "Not a Nugget." Don't worry, we know she'd never dip Nugget in barbeque sauce.
Even more covetable than Miley Cyrus' new haircut is her little dog, Happy. This year, Miley gave Happy a second chance at a home after he was reportedly abandoned in front of a Walmart. Happy got to join 3 other dogs in Miley's family, which will soon include actor Liam Hemsworth. Sounds a lot cozier than Walmart.
Does Rihanna's little maltipoo Oliver make her feel like "the only girl in the world?" Probably. This little golden bundle of fluff is as huggable as dogs get. We wonder if the pup, who Ri-Ri refers to DJ Oliver, gave her inspiration for her new album Unapologetic. We're sure he's got nothing to apologize for, except maybe the occasional chewed-up high heel.
It's been a big year for Tay-Tay, from releasing her new album Red, to dealing with an epic Kennedy breakup to reportedly canoodling with One Direction's Harry Styles. Luckily, her cat Meredith has been her (furry) rock through all the hard work and scandals, meowing reassuringly all the way. Meredith's cat powers are so strong that we even named her the No. 1 Best Thing in Pop Culture this year.
This year, Justin Bieber created a new touring tradition—bringing along a hamster for meet 'n' greets. Introducing Pac, a tiny fuzzy buddy almost as soft as Bieber's hair. Could it be that the pop star has been watching a lot of Harry Potter and wishing for his own version of Ron Weasley's Scabbers? We hope the touring pet tradition catches on.
No matter where the epic romance between Twilight stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson finds itself, the one thing the two can agree on is their love of his dog, Bear. Rescued from a Louisiana shelter, Bear's patchy, tortoiseshell fur makes him uniquely loveable. Twihards might have him to thank for K. Stew and R. Patz toughing it out.
UPDATE: May Mercy rest in peace.
Kim Kardashian's romance with Kanye West this year has been all hearts and clouds and cloud-shaped cats. While the couple doesn't have kids, Kim showed she was ready to be a cat mama with her teacup Persian kitten, Mercy. A gift from Kanye, the cat is presumably named after his hit single, or it's own merciless cuteness.
