Puss in Boots Star Craves Own Cooking Show, Would You Watch It?

Exclusive! Funnylady tells us she wants a series on the Food Network. We'd totally watch it!

Amy Sedaris is hoping to cook something up with the Food Network.

The funnylady tells me she's developing her own series for the cooking cabler…

She definitely has the cred. For those who may not know, Sedaris has had her own cupcake business and is the author of I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence and Simple Times: Crafts for People.

"I've been talking to them," Sedaris told me the other day while promoting her latest flick, Puss in Boots. "It's exactly what I want to do but it's tricky. My fear is: What happens after that? Will I never be asked to do another TV show because I'll be associated with meat loaf?"

As if.

Sedaris has an upcoming multi-episode guest spot on The Good Wife. She appeared last season on Raising Hope. And then there's Puss in Boots (opening tomorrow.) She plays Jill, one-half of the Southern-sounding, villainous—and quite hefty—couple Jack (Billy Bob Thornton) and Jill. Sedaris' native accent (she grew up in North Carolina) came in handy as did watching Johnny Knoxville's documentary, The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.

"Then I saw a picture of Jill and I was like, ‘How am I ever going to come up with the voice for this tank?!'" Sedaris admitted. "But once I heard Billy Bob's version I just kind of tried to match it and make it a little deeper."

Well, it worked.

When I asked director Chris Miller which characters from Puss in Boots should headline their own movie (Puss, after all, is a spinoff from the Shrek flicks), he said Jack and Jill would fit the bill. "I like those two," he said. "I'd like to spend more time with them."

And so would we.
