Emma Stone is thinking about Orlando.

The Oscar nominee was on hand last night to present to tennis legend Billie Jean King at the Logo Trailblazer Honors gala in New York City.

"I just want to take a moment and give my love to the people of Orlando, especially the friends and families of the victims," Stone said when she first appeared on stage, adding, "And I want to thank the representatives who held the floor of the House to demand common sense gun laws. I am sure I speak for everyone in this room when I tell you that we stand and sit in solidarity with you. I don't think it's ever been more important to celebrate the heroes of equality than right now and this is what tonight is about."

Trailblazer Honors celebrate LGBT pioneers. Presenters also included RuPaul, Wilson Cruz, Chloe Grace Moretz, Lance Bass, I Am Cait's Candis Cayne and Glee star Alex Newell. Harvey Fierstein and The Advocate magazine were also honored. The evening also included performances by Mary Lambert and Rachel Platten. This year's show airs tomorrow on VH1 and Logo at 8 p.m.

Stone plays King in the upcoming feature film Battle of the Sexes, which tells the story of the tennis great's match against Bobby Riggs in 1973.

Stone recalled preparing for the role by actually playing tennis with King.

"I kept hitting clunkers, of course, and I was getting frustrated but Billie would just say, 'Forget the bad one, focus on the next ball,'" Stone said. "What I lacked in tennis skills I hope I made up for in my ability to connect with her essence and understand the greater lesson in what she was saying—let go of the negative, stay open and positive, the next ball might just be a good one.

"I feel like that is something Billie has lived by her entire life," she continued. "Even in the darkest times she was always looking forward, visualizing a bigger brighter more inclusive future and not just for women, not just for the LGBT community, but anyone who ever felt marginalized."

Battle of the Sexes is set for release next year.
