Ryan Reynolds always knows how to break the ice during what would understandably have been an emotional day.
The actor took to Twitter earlier today to share his day with his many adoring fans, writing, "A family having a picnic about two hundred yards downwind, ate like, half my Dad's ashes this morning."
Well then. And while the actor didn't divulge any further on the experience, he has been open in the past about his father James Reynold's struggle with Parkinson's before his passing last October.
"I've had a first-hand peek behind the curtain of Parkinson's. I've watched my father—a strong and proud person who successfully raised 4 arguably insane children—slowly, cruelly stripped of his independence. His golden years robbed without explanation," Ryan wrote in a Huffington Post op-ed back in 2011 while explaining his motivation to run the New York City Marathon.
"Witnessing my Dad suffer over the years galvanized my need to step up. Those affected by Parkinson's wage a similar war in their own bodies every single day. Unlike a marathon, their struggle won't end in a shallow pool of vomit just outside Tavern On The Green while waiting for an ambulance. They continue day in and day out, silently battling away in the most personal of struggles."
According to an online obituary, James, who went by the nickname Jim, passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side in White Rock, B.C.
"Despite health challenges that could have slowed him down, Jim was a strong and passionate man who lived life to the fullest," the obituary read. "His spirit, stories and memories live on in his sons and grandkids."
