Jimmy Kimmel has shed some pounds over the past year, but his method might sound incredibly tough.

The Jimmy Kimmel Live! host appeared on The View Monday morning after hosting Live! With Kelly and opened up about how he lost the weight. "It's a reasonable diet," he shared. "I don't eat on Monday and I don't eat on Thursday."

When they co-hosts appeared baffled at his admission, he clarified, "I eat like 500 calories on those days." That still seems pretty difficult to us, Jimmy! Having to stay away from food on those two days—though he did admit to receiving a fruit plate backstage—caused the women of The View to wonder if he ever became particularly moody as a result of the hunger.

"I don't think so, but my wife and everyone I work with say it makes me mean and grouchy," he admitted, "but it does work and I eat like a pig the rest of the time."

Kimmel isn't the only celebrity to try out extreme diets in order to get to a certain goal weight. For his role in The Heart of the Sea, Chris Hemsworth had to greatly diminish is caloric intake in order to appear famished.

"A bunch of sailors in a whaling ship get struck by a whale, the ship sinks and they jump onto the small rafts and drift for 90 days, and basically they begin to die and eat each other...a romantic comedy," he told Kimmel while promoting his movie. "And we have to get rather skinny. So we're on 500 or 600 calories a day."

Talk about a transformation from his incredibly hulky Thor character!

"It's funny, you've never heard 15 big, burly guys playing sailors talk about their calorie count, what they should and shouldn't eat, what their cheat meal is going to be," Hemsworth shared. "I mean, you can consume 600 calories in a milkshake. So it ends up being a couple of small salads, a couple of small pieces of protein and that's kind of it and you go to bed hungry," he admitted.

Little did he know, Kimmel could totally relate.
