Has one man's haircut ever built this much anticipation?

Harry Styles revealed via Twitter Friday that he'd cut his long hair for charity. He shared a picture of his lopped-off ponytail, but so far, no one has seen what the singer's fresh cut looks like. Did he go for a buzz cut, as Justin Bieber recently did? Something colorful, like Zayn Malik? As One Direction fans wait with bated breath—no exaggeration—a teen from Yorkshire, England, tricked a few people into thinking he'd received the first photo of Style's new hairstyle.

"Harry looks cool now he cut his hair," Ellis Lacy tweeted Saturday, sharing Styles' photo with a Snapchat photo. Lacy also shared a video using the same filter, saying, "Hi, everyone. It's Harry. Thanks, everyone, for liking my new haircut. Thanks, Ellis Lacy, for getting my photo out there."

Pretty convincing, right? Lacy used Snapchat's "face swap" filter to pull off his Twitter prank. Coincidentally, he previously auditioned for X Factor, the show that assembled One Direction.

Some fans believed the photo was real; others were sad it wasn't:

On Tuesday, Wendy Tarplee Morris, co-founder and manager of the Little Princess Trust, appeared on the U.K.'s This Morning to discuss' Styles' charitable donation. "A little while back he had expressed an interest in supporting us…And then all of a sudden he did it," she told the morning show co-hosts, adding that his locks haven't arrived yet. "There's plans in place to get it to us safely."

Sadly, she didn't have a new photo of Styles to share.
