Caitlyn Jenner continues to be applauded for her bravery.
E! News can exclusively reveal the I Am Cait star has been named a Time 100 honoree for 2016!
The magazine's annual list of the most influential people in the world recognizes leaders, athletes, musicians, artists, entrepreneurs, activists and other icons of the moment. Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Reese Witherspoon and Laverne Cox were among last year's recipients.
In Time's 100 issue, on sale Friday, transgender activist and father Wayne Maines describes the 66-year-old Olympian as a "hero" for "having the courage to come out at this stage of her life."
"Caitlyn did know the consequences of coming out," Maines writes. "Because no matter where you come from, how famous you might be or how much money you have, letting America see you in such a vulnerable way is daring and admirable—not self-serving."
He continues, "The courage that she displays is helping challenge society to change. I am so pleased that she has fulfilled her dreams and that she is now helping our children do the same."
This award is just one of numerous accolades Jenner has received since she introduced herself to the world on the cover of Vanity Fair in June 2015.
She accepted the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPY Awards in July 2015 and was named one of Glamour's "Women of the Year" in October 2015. In April 2016, she landed a spot on Out's 2016 Power List, and her E! docu-series I Am Cait tied with TLC's I Am Jazz to win the 2016 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Reality Show.
Keep up the inspiring work, Caitlyn!
