The Divine Miss M, 70, mocked the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, for sharing a nude selfie with her 62.7 million Instagram followers and 41.4 million Twitter followers. "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today," Bette told her 910,000 Twitter followers Monday. "If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera."
Bette wasn't the only celebrity to call out Kim, though. Chloë Grace Moretz criticized the E! reality star, and Piers Morgan jokingly offered to buy Kim a new wardrobe. Kim responded to her famous haters in a series of feisty tweets, with Bette receiving one more burn than the others. "hey @BetteMidler I know it's past your bedtime but if you're still up and reading this send nudes #justkidding," she tweeted, adding, "hey @BetteMidler I really didn't want to bring up how you sent me a gift awhile back trying to be a fake friend then come at me #dejavu."
Piers responded by writing a column for The Daily Mail, while Bette took to Twitter Tuesday afternoon, writing, "@KimKardashian: I never tried to fake friend you. Looks like anyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke..." Chloë, meanwhile, has yet to publicly respond. Kim wasn't deterred by their tweets and shared a nude portrait of herself, taken by Brian Bowen Smith. She captioned the picture, "#liberated." (Piers disagrees with Kim's sentiment.)
Bette and Kim weren't always at odds. In 2013, when Kim was pregnant with her firstborn child, North West, Bette tweeted that the mom-to-be "would look adorable in the maternity clothes they have just on my block!!" Kim retweeted the music icon, adding, "Let's go shopping!" Two years later, Bette performed Kim's tweets during an appearance on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
Kim has yet to comment on Bette's rebuttal.
