Selena Gomez certainly sparked our interest when she posted an Instagram pic on Sunday of her and Brad Pitt at a Golden Globes after party.

She captioned the cozy two-shot, "Just discussing #TheBigShort."

The late night chat took place at CAA's bash at the Sunset Tower Hotel. Gomez, as movie fans already know, has a cameo in The Big Short to help explain complicated Wall Street lingo. Pitt is not only in the movie, but he's also a producer of the film.

"It was funny because I had met him a few years ago and I was kind of telling him how I geeked out about it and then obviously we were talking about The Big Short and how he thought it was really cool and his kids loved it," Gomez told me last night at the UNICEF Ball.

Wait a minute—Pitt and Angelina Jolie's kids are Selena Gomez fans?

"Evidently," the "Same Old Love" singer said bashfully.

Gomez appeared in her cameo alongside economist Dr. Richard Thaler to explain Synthetic Collateralized Debt Obligations.

She admitted to Pitt that she didn't exactly know what she was talking about in the movie. "It was good for me to learn what was happening with our economic system," she said.

The Big Short director Adam McKay gushed over the young singer-actress when I caught up with him earlier this month at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.

"We were so impressed," he said. "After she left, I was like, 'How old is she?' and they were like, '21.'…So mature, just a pro. She had to do a scene with a non-actor and she really held his hand—a guy who is probably going to win a Nobel Prize in economics. She was awesome. We loved her."

The Big Short is in theaters now and is expected to pick up some Oscar nominations when they're announced tomorrow morning.
