movie theater shooting at a screening of Trainwreck in Louisiana devastated the country over the summer, and Amy Schumer hasn't been able to move past it, either.

She and her cousin, Sen. Chuck Schumer, have teamed up for a "crusade on guns," and on Sunday she and Chuck opened up about the shooting that killed three, including the gunman. Approximately nine people were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for injuries. They ranged from non-life threatening to critical and life-threatening.

"On Thursday, July 23rd, a man sat down for my movie, Trainwreck. I don't know why he picked my movie," she said, per The Times Picayune.

"It is something I live with every day."

Schumer and Schumer, the dynamic duo's new team name, urged lawmakers to support a new bill sponsored by the New York democrat that would close a loophole that allows guns to be sold without background checks at gun shows and online. With such an incredible social media presence, the Inside Amy Schumer star is hoping to start a movement online.

She introduced the hashtag #AimingForChange Sunday to unite people under a common cause.

"Live from New York: We're aiming for a change," the senator added, playing on Saturday Night Live's famous opening line.

In August the stand-up comedian and her politico cousin first announced their partnership in which she explained why it's so important to have gun control laws put in place.

"I'm not sure why this man chose my movie to end those two lives and injure nine others, but it was very personal for me," said Amy in a press conference. "We always find out how the shooter got their gun and it's always something that never should have happened in the first place."

At the time, both Schumers announced a new, three-pronged plan and a public push to crack down on mass shootings and gun violence. The senator's plan included legislation that would create financial rewards for states that submit all appropriate paperwork to the background check system. It will also penalize those states that don't.
