Talk about the dinner party from hell.
After Meredith's worst nightmare arrived on her doorstep in the final minutes of last week's Grey's Anatomy—in the form of the doctor who couldn't save Derek—this week is all about watching her squirm as she tries to entertain the lousy doc as one of her dinner party quests. And if this sneak peek is any indication, we'll be squirming right alongside her.
In the new clip, we see the immediate aftermath of Callie's introduction of new girlfriend Penny (aka, Derek's death doc), and it involves a rotten trip down memory lane for Mer followed by the wholly relatable urge to puke. Put the pieces together, Alex. Put 'em together!
The arrival of Penny back into Meredith's life was one heck of a punch to the gut last week, especially after we'd watched Mer (Ellen Pompeo) break down exactly for the new intern class exactly what it's like to be the receiving end of the world's worst news after telling Maggie (Kelly McCreary) that it's finally sunk in that she's a widow and she's maybe OK with it. Something tells us she won't be so OK with it anymore. And here we thought Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) would take meeting Callie's (Sara Ramirez) new girlfriend the hardest!
Is Meredith going to be strong enough to handle this? Has enough time passed since losing Derek that, after the initial sting, this won't hurt her too badly? And after a few weeks of that lighter, vintage Grey's feel we'd been treated to, are things about to go all dark and twisty again? We can't wait to find out!
