Was a familiar name among the cast the reason Kristen Stewart decided to take on American Ultra?

As we all know, K.Stew reunites with her former Adventureland co-star Jesse Eisenberg in the film, so we had to ask if this was done on purpose or, perhaps, by fate?

"It was not a proactive endeavor, but definitely a welcomed one," Stewart told E! News during the press junket, but admitted that seeing Eisenberg connected with the film made it kind of a no-brainer.

"As soon as I heard that Jesse was attached to a script that was sent my way, before I even read it, I was almost certain that—and considering that they wanted me to do it—I was like, oh cool, this is my next job, before I even got to the end of it."

But did she know she'd be in for such a physical beating? Both K.Stew and Eisenberg have their fair share of bloody scenes in the action flick, something that even Stewart admits is much different than what she's experienced in previous roles.

"Yeah, all of the action I've done in movies, typically it's been very fantastic—its been in a fantasy," she tells us. "And so this was very gritty, real. It was like, if we got hit by something, we were bleeding—you know, head wounds bleed a lot, therefore we're covered in blood."

American Ultra follows "activated" secret agent Eisenberg as he kills his way to protect his girlfriend (Stewart). Similar to their amusement park-based first film together, these two are still smoking and doing a heck of a lot of drugs. This time, however, they're not working at a theme park and instead are getting caught up in murder, espionage and other spy-specific activities.

You know, the usual.

Topher Grace and Connie Britton are among the agents after the young lovers-gone-rogue in the flick, which hits theaters Aug. 21.
