Today would have been Cory Monteith's 33rd birthday, and in his honor Lea Michele took to Twitter to share a heartfelt message about the late actor.

"I know you're serenading everyone right now…We love you Cory! Happy birthday," she wrote alongside a photo of him playing the drums.

His fellow Glee co-star Kevin McHale also posted an Instagram pic of Monteith with the caption, "Not one day goes by…Happy birthday."

The actor, who played wheelchair-bound Artie on the hit show, spoke about his friend last week during an appearance on The HuffPost Show, saying that the Fox series never recovered after Monteith's untimely passing.

"When Cory Monteith died, I don't think the show ever came back from that," McHale explained.

"It wasn't for a lack of trying...I think after that the vibe onset is different. It was just weird for us being there never mind actually filming. Being one of the writers in that sort of situation I wouldn't know what I would've done because I was like, 'I don't even really want to be here.'"

He also addressed the rumors of a Glee spinoff, sharing, "Towards the end, there weren't that many people watching Glee. So I don't know how many people would then watch a spinoff. We're off the air for a reason."

Monteith passed away two years ago on July 13 and was found in his hotel room in Vancouver.

The coroner ruled that the actor died of an overdose, officially referred to as a mixed drug toxicity, with heroin and alcohol being among the substances found in his body.
