Apparently Martin Freeman is headed for total fandom domination.

Imagine Benedict Cumberbatch saying that in his scariest, deepest, most intense Khan voice: TOTAL. FANDOM. DOMINATION.

Not only is he one-half of one of Tumblr's favorite ships and shows (talking about Sherlock, folks), but he's also the star of The Hobbit trilogy. And now he's officially joined another fanbase that is just as die-hard as those other ones: Marvel.

The company that seems to do no wrong at the box office has announced that the Fargo star has been cast in a unknown (read: spoilery) role in next year's Captain America: Civil War.

"From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in The Office, Martin's range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us," Marvel producer Kevin Feige said in a statement. "We couldn't be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

Fandoms are colliding! And Twitter is losing its collective s--t. But mostly they are already shipping his character with Doctor Strange:

Captain America: Civil War, set to release May 6, 2016, also stars Chris EvansRobert Downey Jr.Elizabeth OlsenScarlett JohanssonJeremy RennerPaul Bettany and Anthony Mackie.

Wait. Benedict Cumberbatch is also in the Marvel Universe as Doctor Strange. If Sherlock/Smaug and Watson/Bilbo cross paths again in yet another fandom, social media will cease to exist. Where we will all the GIFs go?!
