Renée Zellweger knows a thing or two about red carpet controversy.

And during her most recent public appearance, the Oscar winner chatted with Elle magazine about how her experience in front of the camera has shaped how she feels about females in Hollywood as a whole.

In fact, when specifically asked about the latest movement from actresses to discuss more than just gowns at awards shows, Zellweger admitted that fashion is (arguably more than) half the fun of it.

"I wondered why it became about breaking down what a lady chooses to wear when she's celebrating the really fun experience of her life and her achievement that she's sharing with her friends and her family," she said while sitting front row at Miu Miu's Fall 2015 collection at Paris Fashion Week.

"But I understand it. I understand that a big part of the fun is getting to see the fashion and I enjoy it myself. It's a lot of fun. What other opportunity do you have to wear such beautiful things? Where else are you going to go in those gowns?"

And when she's not hard at work on film sets, or turning heads with her spot-on fashion sense, Zellweger is landing in headlines over, what else, her face.

The actress received flack over her appearance at the magazine's Women in Hollywood Awards just this past fall and chose to release a statement to clear the air once and for all.

"I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," she told People.
