The latest fashion must-haves aren't celebrity style staples. They weren't shown on a couture runway either. Quite honestly, a similar looking pair could be found at your nearest big box retailer—but those minimalistic pants probably didn't have a 12,000-person waitlist.

Thousands of shoppers had been eagerly awaiting Everlane's debut pants collection, according to The Huffington Post. This week, they were finally able to get their legs through the label's slim trouser and slouchy trouser.

Costing $98 and $120, respectively, the new pieces—which come in navy and black—lack the celebrity endorsement or aspirational quality many other crazes boast. There must be some body-flattering magic in those inseams, right?

"We chose to use a high quality wool with some stretch in it, making sure that the pants are as wearable and comfortable as possible," said Petra Langerova, Everlane's head designer, to HuffPost.

Traditionally, highly-coveted pieces with tremendous wait lists have boasted price points to match, including select designs of the celebrity-favored Hermès Birkin bag and Balenciaga booties. But in recent years, some of the most lust-worthy items have been a bit more practical.

In 2012, a Slate article heralded a plain, black sweatshirt from San Francisco start-up American Giant as "the greatest hoodie ever made," and a four-month waiting list soon ensued.

Then, 2014's polar vortex gave cause for a 60,000-person waitlist for a humble pair of L.L. Bean Duck Boots—yes, that of your father's closet fame.

Good news for our wallets: It seems like the affordable is the new aspirational.
