Watch: Jason Aldean and Brittany Kerr Talk Wedding Planning

Wedding planning is officially underway for Jason Aldean and Brittany Kerr

The couple, who got engaged in September, caught up with E! News when they attended the 2014 CMT Artist of the Year Awards last night at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, where the duo dished on their forthcoming nuptials while looking totally in love!

"Slowly but surely!" Kerr, who looked red hot in a fitted dress, spilled when asked if the two have started planning their I-dos.

"It's coming along, kind of," Aldean added with a smile before revealing, "It will happen sometime in the next year."

So secretive, you two!

Aldean popped the question during the West Coast leg of his Burn It Down tour, and Kerr subsequently shared a photo of her stunning engagement ring on Instagram.

However, despite their engagement bliss, their relationship had a rocky beginning, as the two were first linked when Aldean was photographed kissing the former American Idol contestant back in Oct. 2012—while still married to Jessica Ussery, the mother of his two children.

Shortly after photos of Aldean and Kerr emerged, the then-married singer apologized for his behavior on Facebook, admitting that he had "screwed up" and "had too much to drink" that evening.

The next month, he spoke to E! News and shared that he was "workin' through" his marital issues with his wife, although less than a year later the pair, who were high school sweethearts, called it quits.

In August, Aldean fought back at the criticism surrounding the controversial beginnings of his romance with Kerr, posting a heated Instagram in defense of his relationship.

Uploading a photo which read, "You know my name, not my story. You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through," he captioned the pic, "So sick of people judging me and @brittanylkerr over things they know nothing about. I have made mistakes but i am a better person because of it, and wouldnt change a thing. Im happier than i have ever been, so thank u to all the people who support us. We are happy and life goes on. Its time to move on people. #aldeanarmy #oldnews #timetomoveon."

He also echoed the same sentiments to Billboard magazine in September, saying, "It has been two years of this s--t—get over it, already!"
