The Sopranos and Entourage alum Jamie-Lynn Sigler and her family are mourning the death of her brother, Adam Sigler, who passed away suddenly this week at age 41.

Adam was eight years older than the actress and lived in New York, where he and his siblings grew up. The cause of his death was not revealed. Jamie-Lynn and her family have not commented. A friend of the actress told E! News that Adam was in a coma when he died.

"This came out of nowhere. It's a shock," the friend said on Thursday.

Former 'N Sync singer Lance Bass, another friend of Jamie-Lynn, had posted on Twitter this past weekend, "Please send your prayers and positive energy for my friend and Jamie Lynn Sigler's brother Adam - brain hemorrhage #PrayerRequest."

He had revealed days earlier on his Sirius XM radio show that she and fellow actress and pal Joanna Garcia are set to officiate his upcoming wedding to fiancé Michael Turchin (nicknamed "Turkey"). Garcia retweeted his call for prayers.

Us Weekly reported that Adam died on Wednesday after suffering a brain hemorrhage and had been in a coma, surrounded by his loved ones, when he passed away.

Adam was the eldest child in the close-knit family. Jamie-Lynn, 33, also has a 38-year-old brother, Brian Sigler.

"Adam loved being an uncle to Jamie and Brian's kids," the actress' friend told E! News. "They gave him such joy."

Jamie-Lynn and her fiancé, baseball player Cutter Dykstra, are parents to son Beau, 1.

The actress has occasionally shared sweet family moments on her Instagram page. Days after she gave birth to Beau, her first child, she posted a screenshot of a touching iPhone text conversation she had with Adam.
