Homeland returned for its fourth season on Sunday night, with a lot of expectations and without its leading man, Damien Lewis, who exited the Showtime series after three seasons. 

Of course, Homeland isn't the first show to go on without one of its major players, but not every series has been able to recover from a loss as big as Brody's.
