Eva Mendes is proving that not every star's battle with personal hardship is open for public consumption.

In the wake of reports that the Hitch star has entered into a rehab treatment facility, a rep for Mendes confirms to E! News that the actress is taking time off to deal with "personal issues."

"Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support," publicist Brad Cafarelli said.

"Out of respect for Eva's privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details."

News of the unspecified treatment plan comes on the heels of a report from TMZ that the 33-year-old thesp has been receiving treatment for the past several weeks at Utah's Cirque Lodge, where Lindsay Lohan and Mary-Kate Olsen among other stars have both logged time for various issues of their own.

Word of the professional break also comes just hours after Calvin Klein announced that it had selected the Latina thesp to appear in a forthcoming global advertising campaign for an as yet unrevealed fragrance.

Of the forthcoming collaboration with the Training Day star, Calvin Klein, Inc. president Tom Murry said Mendes "exudes an effortless and unpretentious sensuality which is perfectly in line with the Calvin Klein brand DNA."

The compliments kept rolling courtesy of Coty VP Catherine Walsh, who said the company was "thrilled that she will be the newest iconic beauty" to join the Calvin Klein ranks.

After word broke of her "issues," the company said it had no plans to distance itself from Mendes.

"We support Eva during this difficult time and respect her decision to seek professional help," a spokesperson said in a statement.

Mendes is slated to appear in print and TV ads for the fragrance house beginning this fall, around the same time she'll begin making the promotional rounds for her next all-star, femme-fueled film, The Women, due out Oct. 10.
