Sophia Bush

We love it when past Beauty Police victims redeem themselves and show us they can obviously take a little constructive criticism.  We hammered Sophia Bush a few short months ago for wearing a thick wall of bangs and matronly makeup, demanding she tried to look her age.  Last night at the BeautyCon Kick-off Event she redeemed herself with a youthful braid and a glowing fresh face that made her look even younger than her 31 years.

Based on Sophia's creamy flawless skin, this is obviously a woman who worships at the house of sunscreen.  (Applause heard throughout the Beauty Police offices) She knows not to camouflage that creamy skin with heavy foundation or bronzer. She probably used a sheer foundation or bb cream and just a touch of peachy blush to make her skin the star.

We're lovin' on her eye makeup as well. We can't decide if she treated herself to lash extensions or had a makeup artist give her individual falsies but when she bats those eyelashes we assume they looked like little Venus Flytraps. She let the lashes bring the drama and used a black eyeliner pencil on her upper lash and bronzy brown on the lower lash line to bring out the different flecks of colors in her hazel eyes.

The one thing we would have changed on this look would have been the lip: A) She obviously didn't use a longwearing lipstick since her lip pencil is the only color still visible B) She could have used some colorperhaps a pop of pink or rose.

Get the Look: After applying a clear gel-based primer like e.l.f. Studio Mineral Infused Face Primer, apply a sheer foundation or bb cream with your fingertips like BOSCIA B.B. Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 27 PA++.  Hint: If foundation or bb cream seems like it's not blending correctly, use a damp makeup sponge to blot and press makeup into your skin.

Next, use a peachy coral cream or gel blush like Josie Maran Argan Color Stick in Coral in the apples of your cheeks. Apply by using your middle finger to dab on color and then blend upwards towards your temples for extra lift.

To create Sophia's eye makeup look at home, start by covering entire upper eye area with a sheer shimmery golden beige eye shadow like SEPHORA COLLECTION No 71 Blonde Ambition.  Then, line your upper lash line with a waterproof black eyeliner like Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Noir.

Use a bronzy brown eyeliner pencil along the lower lash line like Becca Cosmetics Automatic Eye Pencil in Bronzed Chocolate Brown and then use a Q-tip or smudger to soften the liner and blend it into the lash line. Complete the look with 2-3 coats of a dramatic, volumizing mascara like Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

We're going to cheat a little and suggest the lip color we would have used on Sophia (it's not like we're going to recommend just lip liner and clear gloss).  We would have loved to see her in a fun long-lasting fuchsia gloss like MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Rouge in Fuchsia.

We would like to think we had some influence over Sophia's recent youthful makeover (yes our egos are that big) and we hope that she smiles when she reads our praises in this post, but takes note of our demand for lip color. That's right Sophia, give us a sign you're reading and show up to your next red carpet event in a bright fuchsia lip!
