Tim Curry is recovering at his Los Angeles home after suffering what's been described as a major stroke.

"Tim had a stroke last July. He has been going to physical therapy doing well and in great humor," the 67-year-old actor's rep tells E! News. "He thanks everyone for sending good wishes."

"He absolutely can speak and is recovering at this time and in great humor," she said.

In 2011, the actor was forced to drop out of Trevor Nunn's U.K. production of Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead after coming down with a chest infection that resulted in asthma attacks.

Aside from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Curry's films include The Hunt for Red October, Oscar, The Three Musketeers and Muppet Treasure Island. He also played Pennywise the clown in It, the 1990 TV miniseries based on Stephen King's novel and took on King Arthur in the Broadway hit Spamalot.
