Is the old gang getting back together? Maybe that would help save American Idol.

Over the weekend, original Idol judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson sent fans into a tizzy when they started tweeting each other about the good ole days. It all started with Cowell, who showed his softer side when he wrote about Jackson leaving Idol at the end of last season:

"Randy leaving idol made me remember that Paula randy me and Ryan had the best time. I miss them."

Jackson replied with his usual vernacular that he missed old-school Idol, too: "Yo @SimonCowell that was the best eva. U, @PaulaAbdul, me, and @RyanSeacrest thank u. my real peeps 4 life."

Abdul then chimed in, completing the Idol circle of life and thus making us miss the episodes when Paula and Simon would fight like an old married couple and people like Adam Lambert would rock our reality-singing-competition world. "We all really did have the best time, didn't we?!" Abdul tweeted. "Lots of great #memories :)) Miss you too! Xoxo."

Now that this is out in the universe, we don't think we'll be happy with Idol until we get the original trio back together. What do you guys think? Idol circa 2002 or bust?
