How's this for a reunion?

It looks as if Reese Witherspoon has signed on to be in director Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice, along with none other than her Walk the Line costar Joaquin Phoenix, Deadline reports.

Based on the 2009 detective novel of the same name by the reclusive novelist Thomas Pynchon, the movie adaptation will also feature Owen Wilson and Benicio Del Toro, with The Wrap reporting that Martin Short and Jena Malone have also just joined the cast.

The coming together of Witherspoon and Phoenix will mark the duo's first collaboration since the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic.

Mind you, there won't be any singing this time around, but this bit of casting news is still, er, music to our ears.
