If One Direction's record sales are any indication, 1D's Harry Styles looks to be giving rumored gal-pal Taylor Swift a run when it comes to superstardom.

That's because One Direction's latest album, Take Me Home, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 Album charts this week, selling a whopping 540,000 copies.

In doing so, the boy band achieved a pretty impressive pop feat, becoming the first-ever British group to see their freshman and sophomore albums enter the U.S. chart in the top spot (their previous effort was 2011's Up All Night).

Not only that, but Take Me Home was No. 1 in 32 countries, among them One Direction's home base of the U.K. as well as Canada, Australia, Denmark, Israel, Taiwan, Thailand and Japan.

Stateside, the follow-up LP also sold a record 130,000 downloadable preorder copies via iTunes, while Take Me Home's first single, "Live While We're Young," has racked up 341,000 units sold in its first week of release.

Considering that the handsome heartthrobs have already sold 15 million records globally and picked up a slew of honors, including three MTV Video Music Awards, three Teen Choice Awards and just met Queen Elizabeth II II (!), any notion that One Direction might be a temporary fad destined to fade would be wrong.

And given that singer Harry Styles now looks to be dating the biggest country pop star in the world after a source told E! News that the 1D hunk hung out with Swift at her invitation during her appearance on The X Factor last week, it's a safe bet One Direction's only going to get bigger.

Perhaps it's time for a coheadlining tour?

Well, not anytime soon. One Direction's slated to play a sold-out gig at New York's Madison Square Garden on Dec. 3, after which they'll be launching their own world trek next spring. The U.S. leg kicks off in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on June 13.
