Practice makes perfect.

At least, that's the motto Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker adopted when they walked down the aisle in Las Vegas on April 4. Although the pair were not able to obtain an official marriage license before their surprise ceremony, a source close to Kourtney exclusively tells E! News, "They didn't want to wait another second."

"They were having a fun night in Vegas, letting loose and figured why not do it there?" the source said. "They tried to get a license and when they couldn't, they already had their plan and didn't let it stop them."

According to the insider, Kourtney and Travis' families have been supportive of the couple and their move to say "I do"—both in Vegas and at a formal wedding in the future.

"They all know that they will be having a real wedding soon enough and that this was a warm up for the real thing," the insider shared. "Kourtney and Travis have merged their families together and the kids are supportive as well."

It's no surprise their blended family has given their stamp of approval. After all, the couple's kids—Kourtney's Mason, 12, Penelope, 9, and Reign, 7, and Travis' Landon, 18, Alabama, 16, and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya, 22—have seemingly all unified while spending time together during holidays, a trip to Disneyland and more outings together.

Kourtney celebrated her Vegas nuptials by posting several photos on Instagram this week. "Once upon a time in a land far, far away (Las Vegas) at 2am," she wrote, "after an epic night and a little tequila, a queen and her handsome king ventured out to the only open chapel with an Elvis and got married (with no license). Practice makes perfect."

So, what's next for the couple? A separate source previously told E! News their big wedding will likely happen this year under the help of event planner Mindy Weiss, as well as Kris Jenner, Kourtney and Travis.

"They are all doing it together," the second insider said in January. "Kourtney is relaxed and laid back about the details. She's not a bridezilla at all. Travis is also involved, but he lets Kourtney make most of the decisions and wants it to be her day."
