Tori Spelling was heartbroken when Dean McDermott cheated on her this past December.
But while fans might feel empathy for the True Tori star over her husband's infidelity, some Twitter users are quick to point out that Tori's own love story with Dean began as an affair in 2005—back when they were married to other people.
In a clip from Tuesday's True Tori reunion, a reporter bluntly asks the mother of four what her response is to "a lot of very vocal people on Twitter who say that, 'Karma is at play here'—that you both cheated on your spouses with each other, and hey, you're getting a taste of your own medicine."
Gulp. Tori begins by acknowledging, "Obviously, what happened was hurtful to other people..." And, indeed, her one-year marriage to Charlie Shanian ended in 2006, shortly after she and Dean developed feelings (and more) for each other in 2005 on the set of the Lifetime TV movie, Mind Over Murder. Dean, who had been married for 13 years to Mary Jo Eustace, ended his marriage in 2006 as well, marrying Tori shortly after.
But when Tori is asked to address her own adulterous past, she doesn't deny what happened. Instead, she attempts to explain what happened that made her cheat on her husband with a married man. Watch the clip above to hear what she has to say!
