Just hours after Ryan Gosling's surprise baby news, the actor had to make a public confession.
"I didn't try this suit on before I came out and I realize that it's so tight," he quipped to Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night couch. "It's wildly inappropriate. I feel like I'm going steady with these pants."
Jokes aside, the Oscar nominee unfortunately would not acknowledge the surprise news of the birth of his second daughter during his interview Monday evening.
The 35-year-old actor and actress Eva Mendes welcomed their baby girl, Amada Lee Gosling, on the morning of April 29. Considering we first learned of Mendes' second pregnancy on April 14, the pregnancy and birth were arguably April's best kept secret.
Instead of gushing about his new baby bundle, Gosling stuck to brass tacks with Kimmel, most prominently his newest movie with Russell Crowe called The Nice Guys.
"Russell and I got asked to leave by the studio and then they reprimanded us for not tweeting enough," he described of his experience attending a preview of the film. "I guess we're coming out against Angry Birds and apparently we're getting crushed by Angry Birds and we have to find a way to combat them...how do you out-tweet an angry bird?"
"Russell actually texted me in the middle of the night. He was obviously vexed and he said, 'I'm a Crowe. You're a Gosling. We're two of the angriest birds I know,'" he continued.
Then, right before he and Kimmel were done with their chat, Gosling offered a subtle peak into his notoriously secret life as a dad while the two discussed their mutual friend, actor Don Rickles' 90th birthday.
"[When] my little girl was born, he sent me a gift certificate for Toys R Us," the star revealed. "It said, 'Don't worry. You'll get another job. Kids are expensive.'"
While there's no telling which little girl Gosling was referring to, it was a sweet moment nonetheless to hear him talk about one of his babies.
