Sharon Osbourne is taking time off.

After news broke over the weekend that she and husband Ozzy Osbourne would be splitting after 33 years of marriage, Sharon was absent from her talk show, The Talk, Monday afternoon. Leeza Gibbons filled in for the British talker instead. Co-host Julie Chen opened the show with a heartfelt acknowledgment of her colleague's absence.

"As we get started, Sharon is not here today. There were many tabloid headlines of her and Ozzy, rumors and speculations that they have split up after nearly 34 years of marriage," Chen said. "Sharon understandably took today off and we are sending all of our love to her and to her family. And we ask that you do the same."

E! News learned of Ozzy and Sharon's split Saturday, with a source telling us that his sobriety played no role in the decision. He has been sober for more than three years and hasn't gone near drugs or alcohol. The insider also said that the couple mutually agreed Ozzy would move out of the house for the time being.

Although the split comes as a shock to most, Sharon and Ozzy sparked divorce rumors back in 2013 when she said there might have been some truth to hearsay going around at the time. "Everything that has been printed in the tabloids has been distorted," Sharon assured fans on The Talk at the time.

"There's always a little seed of truth to everything that gets reported, but then it gets very distorted."

Ozzy rose to fame as the head of heavy metal group Black Sabbath, but he and Sharon also developed a notable following through their reality television show on MTV, The Osbournes, which ran from 2002-2005. They definitely experienced their dark moments over the past three decades—Ozzy was locked up in 1989 after attempting to strangle his wife while Sharon entered a psych after injuring herself to prove her love.

"I didn't press charges but he went into rehab for three months," Sharon told The Guardian. "He was totally insane from all the drink and drugs he was doing, and well, these things happen."
