Pope Francis has landed!
First to-do on American soil? Meet with President Barack Obama and the first family, of course. Obama was joined by first lady Michelle Obama and their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, in offering the leader of the Catholic Church a warm welcome on his first trip to the United States since becoming pope.
Vice President Joe Biden and his family also greeted the pontiff at Andrews Air Force Base outside Washington, D.C., and a flock of supporters chanted, "Ho Ho, Hey Hey, Welcome to the U.S.A.," as he exited the jet.
The historic six-day trip will include visits to the nation's capital, New York and Philadelphia.
His Holiness will make a first-of-its-kind address to Congress, lead a religious service at the Ground Zero site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and address the United Nations. The "People's Pope," as he's often referred to, will also share a meal with the homeless community in Washington.
No recreational stop at Disneyworld?! Sigh, priorities.
And as an international leader befitting his stature could expect, the pope of course received his own adorable emoji in honor of the visit. Enjoy your stay in America, Pope Francis!
