Zoe Saldana is getting candid about her body after giving birth to twin boys in December 2014.

"I've gone through a lot with it [my body] and I'm just embracing the place where I'm at," the 36-year-old Guardians of the Galaxy star revealed to E! News on Monday at the junket for her forthcoming film Infinitely Polar Bear. "And I can't just embrace the good things about it. You know, it's not great."

"But when I was superfit I was missing something important in my life," she continued, "Which is my partner and motherhood. And now that I have it, I don't want to take it back so I'm willing to accept everything as it is."

Saldana has been open with fans during her post-baby weight loss journey, regularly posting on her Facebook page and sharing advice for other woman.

"Also, mommies, don't beat yourselves if you fall off the wagon and eat like teenagers..." Marco Perego's wife wrote in late April. "This is for life and not a temporary fix. So why am I going to add more stress to my life by putting a deadline on my healthy lifestyle...don't make this a comeback. Make it for life."

"I also think society is very hard on women, but also, we're very hard on ourselves," she explains. "It's a choice….you make a choice to accept what the person is telling you are, is what in reality you are. Or you can basically say ‘This is not who I am. I would rather believe what I see through my own eyes'"

While the Avatar star admits it can be difficult at times to not self-loathe, she thinks women need to encourage and support one another in order to set an example for the younger generation.

"So I think that in order for us to start sending a more positive message to young girls, I think we have to start embracing the true body form of a woman," she says, "Which is full of curves and volume and stuff and I think it's beautiful."
