Who knew under all of Michelle Dockery's Downton Abbey frocks there's was an action star eager for battle?
The British beauty plays a flight attendant in Non-Stop, a new thriller about an air marshal (Liam Neeson) who starts to receive text messages during a transatlantic flight from someone threatening to kill fellow passengers if the airline doesn't transfer $150 million to an offshore account.
"I had such a good time on this film," Dockery told me last night at the movie's L.A. premiere. "It was so different for me, being in an action film. It was incredible."
Especially when she wasn't just serving drinks to the passengers or helping with overhead luggage.
Dockery did get to do some of her own stunt work—and she wasn't nervous about it.
"I would have been happy to do even more," she said. "At some point, I was like, 'Can you just leave the stunt double? I'll do it.'"
And we're happy to report that Dockery did not suffer any injuries.
Julianne Moore, who costars as a businesswoman who befriends the air marshal, said Non-Stop reminds her of classic disaster flicks from the 1970s.
"The movie for me was really like a throwback to movies like Poseidon Adventure and Towering Inferno, where you follow people into a situation that's potentially dangerous and you have to wait to see what happens," she said. "That's what I love so much about this movie."
Non-Stop is in theaters on Feb. 28.
(Universal Pictures and E! Online are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
