Good news, Sharknado fans. It turns out Tara Reid may actually be in the Syfy flick's sequel after all.

Sharknado's production company The Asylum took to Twitter last night to shoot down reports that Reid would not be asked back to reprise her role for the second installment of the franchise.

"For the record, @TaraReid is awesome and was great to work with in #SHARKNADO," The Asylum tweeted last night. "We'd be lucky to have her back for the sequel. That is all!"

Reid played ex wife to Ian Ziering in the surprise hit TV movie, which brought in 1.4 million viewers. Over the weekend, it was reported that Reid had been ousted from the planned Sharknado sequel.

Additionally, Sharknado producer David Latt told The Hollywood Reporter, "The short answer is: Nope. Tara is invited back. Honestly, I don't know where that [story] came from."

"Syfy and The Asylum love Ian, Tara, Cassie [Scerbo] [and] EVERYONE," Latt said. "Hopefully she'll [Reid] be the one turning us down because this bizarre film gives her—and the rest of the cast—some great opportunities, and therefore [she will be] unavailable...Despite all of the rumors and tabloid stories, Tara was great to work with. She showed up to play. Knew her lines. Was into this crazy, silly film. No drama. No diva...she was great and we would be lucky to have her in S2."

Syfy announced plans to make a sequel, which will air in 2014, earlier this month. "Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm—on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel," Thomas Vitale, Executive Vice President, Programming and Original Movies, Syfy, said in a statement. "What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We'll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn't want our fans to worry they wouldn't get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year."
