Lauren Graham knows you're out there, Gilmore Girls conspiracy theroists, and she's here to shoot you down. Graham, who stars as Lorelai Gilmore in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and has a new book out, Talking as Fast as I Can, wants you to know she was drinking coffee every time she was supposed to be doing so on screen.
"There has been a bit of online complaining that at Luke's you guys drink a lot of coffee, but people online are saying clearly the coffee cups never have anything in them, they look empty," The Late Show host Stephen Colbert informed Graham about the griping, showing her the photo above.
"I want to tell you one thing, that is a true thing: There is always coffee in my cup," Graham insisted.
"There really is coffee in the cup?" Colbert asked her.
"Always," she said. "That is a pet peeve of mine. I didn't look at the picture well enough to see what's so ‘annoying' about it…I'm holding it…I'm holding it, looking at snow, I'm drinking."
Graham also admitted to Colbert that she basically cried every day on set of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
"It was so emotional for so many reasons, but one of them was, you hardly ever get a chance, at any point in life, to appreciate the moment you're in while you're in it. And the fact that it was sort of the people who brought us back and we got to finish a story that we hadn't gotten to finish and this character I love so much…I was just a freak, I had so much appreciation. It was actually very overwhelming. I'm not a person who cries very easily, I cried almost every day," Graham said. "I was so thankful, I don't think I'll ever be able to describe it, which is why I tried to write about it."
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is now streaming on Netflix. The Late Show airs weeknights at 11:35 on CBS.
