Love is just a few dance steps away.
It's a tale as old as time: a musician goes on tour with his or her backup dancers and becomes close with one. After a few weeks, maybe even a few months, news breaks that the star is in a relationship with one of the backup dancers. While it's nothing new in the music industry, it always comes a surprise, so we're looking back at the musicians who have romanced backup dancers either once or on more than one occasion.
Jennifer Lopez: Jenny from the Block fell in love with choreographer and dancer Cris Judd in the early 2000s. The couple married in 2001 but divorced in 2003. She went on to marry Marc Anthony, but sadly the two split in 2011. J.Lo then went on to date another backup dancer, Casper Smart. The on-again, off-again couple finally called it quits earlier this year after news broke that Smart had cheated on the songstress.
Britney Spears: The "Toxic" singer married dancer Kevin Federline in 2004 and had two sons with him, Jayden James Federline and Sean Preston Federline. The couple divorced in 2007.
LeAnn Rimes: Before finding dramatic love with husband Eddie Cibrian, Rimes was married to dancer Dean Sheremet. Rimes and Sheremet met at the 2001 Country Music Awards when Sheremet was assigned to be a back up dancer for her. According to Rimes, it was ‘love at first sight," and the couple married the following year. They divorced in 2009.
Mel B: The former Spice Girls songstress met and began dating now ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar during the Spiceworld era. The two married in 1998 but divorced in 2000. They share one daughter, Phoenix Gulzar.
R. Kelly: The "Ignition" singer married Andrea Lee in 1996 but divorced in 2009 after he was accused of having relationships with underage girls.
Ashley Tisdale: High School Musical not only gave Tisdale the career that would make her career, but it also gave her longterm boyfriend dancer Jared Murillo. They dated for two years before calling it quits in 2009.
Christina Aguilera: The "Genie in a Bottle" songstress entered a serious relationship with backup dancer Jorge Santos, whom she met on her tour in 2000. They broke up in September 2001, but they still worked together throughout 2002.
Madonna: The "Material Girl" songstress met backup dancer Brahim Zaibat at her daughter's, Lourdes', clothing line launch.
The couple, which had a major age difference, went on to date for three years before splitting up.
