It's not quite the bomb (er, slap) that was The Good Wife finale—it's still not a very good showing for a fan-favorite series.
An alternate ending to the series was reportedly filmed, which saw Juliette and Avery (Jonathan Jackson) reunite instead of Avery learning that Juliette's plane was lost, but according to TVLine the happily ever after was scrapped in the hopes that another platform would pick up the series and resolve the cliffhanger.
Lionsgate TV, the studio behind Nashville, tweeted after the finale, "#Nashies What a cliffhanger! But we won't leave you hanging. There's more story to be told. #BringBackNashville," though no new home has been announced.
