This time, the joke's on you, George Clooney!

During Tuesday night's debut of CBS' The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, new host Stephen Colbert presented his first guest with a belated present from Tiffany's despite noting he was not invited to the wedding. The Oscar winner famously married human rights lawyer Amal Clooney almost a year ago in September.

Hmmm, you're a little late there, Stephen…

Fortunately for all of us,  it wasn't a shiny new pair of diamond studs—it was better. Stephen turned the tables on the infamous prankster when George opened the iconic blue box only to find a paper weight engraved with the phrase, "I don't know you"—a subtle reminder to the blockbuster star that they indeed do not know each other.

"I don't want to do that celebrity thing where we pretend we know each other and you can pass that on to another celebrity who you don't know but have to pretend that you do know them," Stephen explained. Well, you can't fault the man for his honesty.

The gift certainly wasn't as glitzy as George's newly-minted "arm candy" status following his nuptials to "a very serious" person like Amal. When Stephen asked him how he feels about his new rank, George simply replied, "Shiny and pretty—that's mostly what I do."

We can't argue with you, George. You're as pretty as they come.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
